Job Overview:

As a Dishwasher, you play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of our restaurant’s kitchen. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned, sanitized, and ready for use by the kitchen staff. You’ll work closely with the kitchen team to keep the kitchen running smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  1. Dishwashing:
    • Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, glassware, flatware, and cooking utensils.
    • Hand wash items that cannot be cleaned in the machine.
    • Ensure that all items are properly sanitized and free of residue.
  2. Kitchen Support:
    • Assist kitchen staff with food prep and other tasks as needed.
    • Keep the kitchen area clean and organized.
    • Empty trash cans and dispose of kitchen waste appropriately.
  3. Maintaining Equipment:
    • Clean and maintain dishwashing equipment regularly.
    • Report any malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor or manager.
  4. Sanitization:
    • Follow proper sanitization procedures to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
    • Maintain cleanliness and order in dishwashing and storage areas.
  5. Adherence to Health and Safety Standards:
    • Comply with all health and safety regulations and guidelines.
    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  6. Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management.
    • Notify the chef or manager of any low inventory of cleaning supplies.
  7. Shift Maintenance:
    • Ensure that the dishwashing area is well-stocked with cleaning supplies.
    • Assist with end-of-day cleanup and closing duties.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a dishwasher in a restaurant or food service establishment is preferred but not always required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Willingness to follow directions and work as part of a team.
