Job Description:
Join our team as a General Shepherd and become an essential part of our farm’s operations. Our farm encompasses 9300 hectares of irrigated and hill country, primarily focusing on farming half-bred sheep and Angus Cattle. Your primary responsibility will involve working with animals, but you should also be prepared to assist with general farm duties and water reticulation maintenance. This is a physically demanding role that requires excellent fitness, determination, and the ability to work safely and independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with animals, including the care, feeding, and management of half-bred sheep and Angus Cattle.
- Assist with general farm tasks, which may include fencing, maintenance, and other duties as required.
- Perform water reticulation maintenance to ensure the efficient distribution of water throughout the farm.
- Maintain a strong work ethic and a positive attitude while working independently.
- Utilize at least two capable working dogs to assist in herding and managing livestock.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and tidiness in all work areas.
- Communicate effectively and show an interest in using technology to support farm operations.
- Possess a good level of fitness, with experience in hill country farming considered beneficial.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- At least two capable working dogs.
- Honesty, reliability, cleanliness, and tidiness.
- Good communication skills and an interest in utilizing technology.
- A high level of fitness, with hill country experience being advantageous.
